On Doolhof, approximately 80 hectares are suitable for growing wine grape varietals. Currently there are a little under 40 hectares under vine. Spread over several ranges, there are multiple and diverse growing conditions and microclimates as well as soil differences. The Doolhof strategy is to marry the varietal to the soil and microclimate to produce optimum growing conditions.

Our strategy is to find the right terroir for each of the vines. The farm boasts white varietals Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay and red varietals Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec, Petit Verdot, Pinotage and Shiraz. Plans are in place to expand the range by managing and optimum growing conditions and to show the varietals off to maximum benefit.

Between 2002 and 2005, Doolhof launched its lightly oaked Cape blends, Cape Boar and Cape Roan. Its rebirth was marked by the Renaissance range of red varietal wines made from Doolhof grapes locally. This year has seen the Signatures of Doolhof range, originally whites Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, enhanced by red varietals Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinotage and Shiraz. From 2007 we can look forward to top of the range Dimensions of Doolhof red blends.

The Doolhof strategy is to marry the varietal to the soil and microclimate to produce optimum growing conditions.
