After months of preparation, we’re very excited to announce that our Doolhof labyrinth is complete. Our labyrinth consists of a path that is laid out in a traditional manner (you will find a similar one in the cathedral at Chartres). There is only one entrance, one path to the middle, and the same path, in reverse, out again.

Labyrinths can be thought of as symbolic forms of pilgrimage, a walk that takes you from birth (the entrance) to God (the centre). Labyrinths are also a form of meditation. By slowly walking through the turnings, you lose track of direction, time and the outside world, and this quiets the mind. In the centre, you are encouraged to rest awhile in tranquility, and then “re-enter” the world gently.

Doolhof actually means labyrinth in Afrikaans, so named by the early farmers because this farm consists of so many interwoven hills and vales. Today, this feature adds to the quality of our wine, as we have the right micro-environment for each variety.

And now we’re very pleased that there’s also a walking labyrinth on the farm – open to everyone to experience and enjoy! Please visit: to walk the labyrinth, taste our wines, and enjoy the natural beauty of our wonderful farm. We are open for visitors Monday to Friday 8h30 to 16h00 or by appointment.
