Entry level blends from the Doolhof range. Generally lightly oaked, these wines bring together exciting new blends from Doolhof red grapes but reflecting and paying homage to classic old world varieties plus a purely unique Cape Blend.
While the blend may alter year on year, each blend will stay true to the essence of their concept.

Cape Boar
Bordeaux Blend
This wine immediately calls to mind the Bordeaux region, being predominantly Cabernet and Merlot based, but with new world flavours and nuances; a splendid 2004 vintage containing Cabernet, Shiraz and Merlot. 3½ stars in Platters 2006.

Cape Roan
Rhone Blend
Shiraz dominates this spicy, fruity wine reminiscent of wines from the South of France and particularly the Rhone Valley. The 2003 vintage is a blend with Shiraz predominantly and Cabernet and Merlot. This full bodied spicy wine is perfect for BBQ, Braai or as a complement to any roast meat. “Massive” – Platters 2006 (3½ stars).

Maiden's Prayer
A concept wine, developed jointly by Doolhof and Diemersfontein, both of Wellington. While rich, it is unoaked and highly fruity and benefits from slight chilling. In most years blend comprises of Merlot, Cabernet, Shiraz and a hint of Pinotage. | |
